Tracy ,CA: Former Victoria resident dies in California cycling crash on Thursday ,July 16th 2015

A man was killed when his bicycle struck a car near the San Joaquin Delta College Mountain House campus on July 16.

That man was identified this week as former Victoria resident George Sartor, 54, now of Tracy.

California Highway Patrol officer Hector Davila said the accident occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m. on West Grant Line Road at the intersection of Central Parkway, a road that leads to the Mountain House college campus.

According to witnesses, Sartor was heading west on Grant Line Road, approaching the three-way-stop at the intersection of Central Parkway, Davila said.

A Ford Focus in the eastbound lanes was making a left turn from the turn lane to head south on Central Parkway and into the campus.

California Highway Patrol Sgt. Robert Rickman said witnesses reported Sartor ran through the stop sign and struck the car broadside in the right rear door area as it made the left turn.

Sartor was wearing a helmet when he hit the car, but Rickman said blunt force trauma from the impact killed Sartor.
