Chesterton, IN : Pleasant Township man dies in 900S crash on Monday, March 13, 2017

A Pleasant Township man died Monday in a one-vehicle accident in Boone Township, the Porter County Sheriff’s Police is reporting.
The victim has been identified as Donald Kneifel, 78.
According to police, at 8:11 p.m. a passerby in the area of C.R. 900S and C.R. 250W observed a 2006 Saturn Vue with heavy front-end damage off the south side of the roadway and against a tree.
Responders found Kneifel deceased, police said.
Investigators have initially determined that Kneifel was eastbound on C.R. 900S when his vehicle left the road for an unknown reason. “Speed is believed to be a contributing factor,” police said.
The results of a routine toxicology screen are pending.
