Volusia County, FL : A woman was killed in a crash on US-92 in Volusia County on Saturday, May 24, 2014

Investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol are investigating a two-car crash in Volusia County that killed one driver while she stood outside of her vehicle.

The crash happened on US-92 and Clark Bay Road, in Ormond Beach.

According to troopers,Kathy Hayes, 59, was traveling westbound on US-92 when her 2009 Hyundai SUV broke down, and she stopped in the right westbound lane.

Kathy Hayes had exited her vehicle and was standing in front of the car.

Troopers say that's when Erica Johnson, 33, was traveling westbound on US-92 in a Ford SUV, and failed to stop, or even slow down for Hayes' disabled vehicle, smashing into the rear of the SUV, causing the front of the car to impact Kathy Hayes.

Hayes was killed by the impact.

This crash remains under investigation by FHP, and charges for Johnson are pending.
