Immokalee, FL : One person was dead in box truck crash on Wednesday October 15th 2014.

One person is dead after a crash involving a box truck on SR-82 in Immokalee Wednesday night. It happened on SR-82 near Gator Slough Lane at around 7:51 p.m. According to Florida Highway Patrol, a Mercedes Marquis was going west on SR-82 just past Gator Slough Lane. At the same time, a box truck was going east on SR-82 approaching Gator Slough Lane. Troopers say the driver of the Mercedes, identified as 88-year-old Alexander Altieri, of Cape Coral, was trying to pass a semi and entered the on-coming traffic lane. The driver of the box truck, identified as 59-year-old Marc Calvaire, of Immokalee, tried to avoid a collision and steered to the right. However, the left front side of the Mercedes struck the left front side of the box truck -- causing the Mercedes to go off the south side of the roadway.
