Park Rapids,MN : Car crash on County Road 23 injures two on July, Saturday 29th 2017

The Wadena County Sheriff's Office received a report of a motor vehicle crash at approximately 4:15 p.m. July 21 at the intersection of County Road 23 and County Road 12.

A minivan driven by Diane Smith, 64, of Kasson, Minn. was traveling northbound and was stopped at the stop sign on County Road 23 when a pickup driven by Jamie Stone, 44, of Park Rapids, also traveling northbound on County Road 23, rear-ended the minivan, sending it into the intersection and onto County Road 12.


It is believed that the driver of the pickup may have fallen asleep and was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision.

The driver of the minivan and her passenger Evon Louks, 62, of Sebeka, were transported to Tri-County Hospital in Wadena with non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to be a factor in this incident. The Wadena County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by The Minnesota State Patrol, Sebeka Fire and Rescue, Sebeka Police Department, Tri-County Ambulance, and K&K Towing.
