Carlsbad, CA :Woman hit, killed running on I-5 on Thursday, July 2nd 2015

A woman running across Interstate 5 freeway was hit and killed early Thursday morning in Carlsbad.The collision occurred at about 4:05 a.m. on I-5 north in the area of Las Flores Drive.California Highway Patrol said the woman was running across the freeway from the right shoulder to the center divider when she was hit.According to CHP, U.S. Marine Capt. Bobby Joe Bradford, 37, was driving north on I-5 when he noticed the woman walking along the right shoulder. He said she suddenly turned and ran into the lanes, directly in front of his Chevrolet Colorado.He was unable to avoid her, and she hit the front of his vehicle. The victim died at the scene. Her name was not released.Bradford remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.One northbound lane was closed. A Sig Alert was issued just after 5:15 a.m. Traffic was not seriously affected.
