Bucklin, KS : One person killed in car-semi crash in Ford County in southwest Kansas on Sunday afternoon, April 17, 2016

One person was killed late Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Ford County in southwest Kansas.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at the junction of US-400 and K-34 highways, about 4 miles north of Bucklin.

The patrol said the driver of a 2015 Hyundai Elantra that was eastbound on US-400 lost control of the car, causing the passenger-side tires to drop off the roadway.

The Hyundai re-entered the eastbound lane, went left of center and struck a 2000 Peterbilt semi-trailer on the driver’s side.

The patrol said an occupant in the Hyundai, identified as Loren E. Webb, 45, of Wichita, was pronounced dead at the scene. The patrol said he was wearing a seat belt.

The Hyundai’s driver, McKayla Webb, 21, of Wichita, suffered disabling injuries and was taken to Western Plains Regional Hospital in Dodge City.

Another passenger in the Hyundai, Mandy M. Webb, 40, of Wichita, was listed as being injured, and also was taken to Western Plains Regional Hospital.

Marissa Webb, 19, another passenger in the Hyundai, was listed as having possible injuries. She, too, was taken to Western Plans Regional Hospital.

All the injured passengers in the Hyundai were wearing their seat belts.

The driver of the semi-trailer, Robert G. Wanzer, 34, of Watonga, Okla., was uninjured. The patrol said he was wearing his seat belt.
