Video from a Houston Transtar camera showed one vehicle on top of the other. Both vehicles appeared to be upside-down.
"It absolutely breaks my heart. It's senseless. Life is so short and so precious," witness Daniell Stegint said.
Investigators said a Honda Civic was traveling southbound on the feeder road when the driver lost control and hit the stopped minivan at a light.
"I had to pull over and see what had happened. This is just horrible," witness Jessica Mosher said.
Both vehicles flipped and the impact was so great, they were conjoined, investigators said.
Witnesses told KPRC 2 it took two tow trucks to pull the vehicles apart.
