PALMER, AK : Child transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries following accident along Old Glenn Highway on Saturday, 19th September, 2020

PALMER — A child was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries following a single-vehicle accident on the Old Glenn Highway Saturday evening.

The child, a 5-year-old boy, was pinned underneath the vehicle, according to the Alaska State Troopers. AST responded to the Old Glenn Highway at Smith Road at 6:45 p.m. Saturday. Troopers and Mat-Su Emergency Medical Service personnel were able to free the child from underneath the vehicle and perform life-saving efforts. The 5-year-old was one of two children in the vehicle, which also contained three adults. The three adults and the second child were transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to AST.

“At this time it does not appear that seat belts were worn by the occupants of the vehicle and alcohol appears to be a contributing factor in the collision,” troopers said in an online dispatch posted late Saturday night.

The Bureau of Highway Patrol is investigating the case. This is a developing story. Continue to see frontiersman.com for more.
