A Jacksonville man died and two other people were injured when their car crashed on J. Turner Butler Boulevard near Gate Parkway early Sunday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Killed was Edward Anthony Woodson, 29, who was a passenger in a car driven by Laura Marie Hutsell, 41, also of Jacksonville.
Hutsell sustained minor injuries and wasn’t taken to a hospital. However, a second passenger Ernest McNeil, 27, also of Jacksonville was taken in serious condition to UF Health Jacksonville, according to the highway patrol.
The preliminary investigation showed Woodson, who was the front seat passenger, was ejected from the car as it overturned in the crash shortly after 1 a.m. Woodson, who died at the scene, wasn’t wearing his seat belt.
Hutsell was wearing her seat belt. McNeil wasn’t wearing his, the highway patrol said.
Their car was westbound on J. Turner Butler Boulevard when for an unknown reason, Hutsell lost control.
The car spun around and overturned. Charges are pending in the crash, according to the highway patrol.
