Hernando, MS : Soldier's widow killed in car crash on Highway 301 in DeSoto County on Thursday morning, May 26, 2016

A soldier’s widow and founder of a veterans foundation died in a car crash in Mississippi just days before Memorial Day.

Natalie Stovall-Frady was a woman who lived to help others. She was a widow of a fallen soldier, and she pushed to make his legacy live on.

Thursday morning a car crash on Highway 301 ended her life of service.

“I don’t know if we will be able to do it the way she did," Stovall-Frady's second husband Howard Frady said. "She was truly an amazing ambassador for the foundation.”

Mississippi Highway Patrol said the crash happened at the intersection of Highway 301 and Star Landing Road. Stovall-Frady's car collided with a pickup truck as she pulled away from a stop sign.

Stovall-Frady's first husband, First Lieutenant Matthew Stovall, died in Iraq in 2004; he was DeSoto County's first Iraq War casualty. In the wake of his death, Stovall-Frady created The Stovall Foundation.

The foundation raises money for military members returning from deployment. It also works to help children whose parents were killed in service

Frady will now carry the torch. He plans to continue to work for The Stovall Foundation.

Stovall-Frady's 14-year-old son, Walker, has lost both of his parents, but he said he plans to dream big for both of them.

“She inspired me to dream big," Walker said. "The one big dream I want to complete for her would be going to the Naval Academy."

Walker said he wants to follow in his father's footsteps. He and his stepfather will keep the foundation going.

"I'd like her to be remembered as an amazing woman, an amazing wife, and an amazing mom," Walker said.
