Tampa, FL : Fatal motorcycle crash closes EB Ulmerton Road near Howard Frankland Bridge on Thursday, 23rd August 2018

The St. Petersburg Police Department is investigating a motorcycle crash near Carillon Parkway that left one man dead Friday morning.

According to police, 38-year-old Kevin J. Charles of Ruskin riding a Kawasaki motorcycle east on Ulmerton Road shortly after 9 a.m. while Robyn V. Pearce, 26, of Tampa, was heading west in a Toyota Yaris. Pearce made a left turn into the Franklin Templeton Investments parking lot as Charles was passing the area and the two vehicles collided.

Charles, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene, police said. Pearce was taken to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Police said impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash. It has not been determined if speed was.

Police said criminal charges are not expected to be filed.
