Allentown, PA : Man killed, woman injured in Route 145 crash in Lehigh Township on Tuesday, 10th April 2018
A man was killed and a woman injured Tuesday afternoon when a dump truck and a car collided on Route 145 near Walnutport, according to witnesses and emergency radio reports.
The accident was reported 5:30 p.m. near 248 Riverview Drive, which is Route 145 in Lehigh Township. The Northampton County coroner was dispatched 15 minutes later.
Brian Stein, who lives 500 feet north of the crash scene, said he and his brother heard a loud bump, and a witness’s car stopped in front of his house. The witness was shook up, he said.
“He said the guy was dead,” Stein said. “The guy’s girlfriend or wife was crying and she’s pregnant. There was blood everywhere.”
The woman, who didn’t appear badly injured, was taken by ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital Palmerton Campus, he said.
The couple’s black or dark blue car appears to have been going south on Route 145 when it swerved into a guardrail before it bounced back into traffic and collided with the northbound dump truck, Stein said.
A second car, possibly silver, also seems to have been involved, but it wasn’t clear whether that car was damaged, he said.
Lehigh Township police and firefighters rushed to the scene, about two miles southeast of Walnutport and a mile west of Treichlers.
