Belfast, ME : One man dies, three others injured in Belfast crash early Saturday morning, May 14, 2016
A Searsport teen died and three other people were injured this weekend after the vehicle they were traveling in went off Lincolnville Avenue and rolled several times.
Christopher Wiley, 19, another male and two female occupants were traveling toward Northport late Friday night or early Saturday morning when the crash happened, according to a news release issued Monday morning by the Belfast Police Department. No other names or hometowns were immediately available in the report.
Police believe speed was a factor in the crash, and the investigation is ongoing, according to the release.
All four people were taken to Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast to be treated, and Wiley and one other person were later taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor because of the severity of their injuries, according to police.
Wiley died Saturday night in Bangor, police said, and the other person brought to EMMC remained hospitalized Monday. The other two occupants of the vehicle were treated and released from Waldo County General Hospital.
Maine State Police officials came to the scene shortly after the crash to reconstruct it, according to police.
