Emergency crews were at the scene of a motorcycle crash that reportedly caused severe injuries to a rider on the ramp from Route 3 north to the Pheasant Lane Mall late Sunday night.
Emergency crews were called to the ramp just south of the New Hampshire state line about 11:30 p.m., for a report of a crash involving a motorcycle, according to police and Trinity EMS radio broadcasts.
State police said in radio broadcasts that the ramp from Route 3 north to the mall would be closed as they investigated the crash, and they asked to have the Department of Transportation put a warning about the closure on highway message boards.
The rider was taken by ambulance to the parking lot of the nearby mall, where a medical helicopter was expected to land to take the rider to Massachusetts General Hospital, according to state police radio broadcasts.
Radio broadcasts between the Fire Department and an approaching DHART helicopter said the rider suffered a severe head injury and an amputation at his wrist.
State police spokesman do not take calls after 11 p.m., according to a dispatcher, so police could not immediately confirm details regarding the crash.
