Topeka, KS : No one reported hurt in single-vehicle crash on the road’s south side on Saturday night, December 17, 2016

An SUV crashed in front of a southeast Topeka O’Reilly’s Auto Parts on Saturday night before the driver immediately fled from the scene, authorities said.

The vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage after careening off of westbound S.E. 29th and striking a road sign and a utility pole before coming to rest in the O’Reilly’s parking lot situated on the road’s south side.

A Topeka police officer at the scene said that there had been no reported injuries, and that he had not encountered any eyewitnesses. Customers in the store told The Capital-Journal that they had heard the noise of the vehicle striking the pole, but had not seen the incident itself or the driver.

American Medical Response and Topeka Fire Department units initially responded to the scene but left when no one was found to be in need of aid.
