Knoxville ,TN : KPD identifies 58-year-old killed on road Wednesday ,June 17 2015

The driver who was struck and killed Wednesday morning after getting out of his pickup truck on Old Callahan Road has been identified as 57-year-old Scott Hutchison of Norris, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

Police were alerted after 11 a.m. Wednesday that a pedestrian had been hit by a motorist in the 2300 block.

Hutchison was driving a Dodge pickup when he stopped in the eastbound lane to check on his truck load. An oncoming Ford Focus hit Hutchison after coming across a blind hill, according to KPD.

"The driver of the Focus lost control of his vehicle after striking the pedestrian and ran off the road and into some tall bushes," according to KPD statement.

Hutchison was taken to University of Tennessee Medical Center where he died.

KPD has identified the driver of the Ford Focus as Keith Williams, 36, of Knoxville. He was treated for minor injuries.

"Investigators obtained a blood sample from the driver of the Focus as mandated by state law for fatality crashes. The investigation is continuing," according to KPD.
