NEWPORT NEWS, VA : 2 dead after striking tree in fiery I-64 crash near Newport News, York Co. border Monday, 1st January 2024

Two people were killed in a fiery crash off Interstate 64 near the border of Newport News and York County Monday evening, according to Virginia State Police (VSP).

Just before 6:15 p.m., VSP says a Ford Econoline crossed all lanes of the interstate, running off the roadway and into a tree near Lee Hall and Yorktown Road. The vehicle then caught fire, closing multiple westbound lanes and the 247 exit ramp.
