PROVIDENCE, RI : Multi-car crash leads to arrest of homicide suspect on Monday, December 12th 2016

A suspect wanted in connection to the homicide on Amherst St. last Friday has been arrested after an multi-vehicle crash Monday afternoon.

Police say after fleeing the crash scene on foot, the unidentified suspect was arrested in the area of Branch Ave. and Charles St.

The crash briefly closed part of Branch Ave to traffic.

Last week, one man identified by police as 36-year-old Adalberto Martinez, of Providence, was shot and killed at Borinquen Auto at 302 Amherst Street around 2 p.m.

Authorities say the investigation will start now that the suspect is in custody.

The two female passengers in the suspect's car, the suspect, and the other individuals involved in the crash were treated for minor injuries.
