Charlotte, NC : One man killed in a vehicle accident on the interstate-485 South Tryon Street on Thursday May 12th, 2016
Charlotte, North Carolina
One man was killed in a vehicle accident on the interstate in south Charlotte Thursday, according to officials.
The crash happened just before 10 p.m. on the outer loop of I-485 near Exit 1, which is South Tryon Street.
At the scene, two cars could be seen in roadway. Both appeared to have heavy front-end damage.
Investigators said an Infiniti was traveling in the far left lane and hydroplaned, causing it to spin sideways in the roadway. The car was then clipped by an SUV traveling behind it and the Infiniti's driver was ejected from the vehicle. A third vehicle swerved to avoid the accident and hit the ejected driver. The Infiniti driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Investigators said speed was likely a factor in the crash because the Infiniti hydroplaned.
No names or possible charges have been released.
