Washington County, WI : Illinois man killed in head-on collision in Washington County on Friday, September 19, 2014
An 82-year-old Barrington, Ill., man was killed and his 76-year-old wife injured Friday in a two-vehicle crash in Washington County, the sheriff's office said.
The crash was reported shortly after 1:30 p.m. on northbound U.S. Highway 41 north of Western Ave. in the Town of Polk, according to a news release from the Washington County sheriff's office.
According to the release, the couple were in a car traveling north when their vehicle was struck by a southbound SUV that had veered into the northbound lane.
The 63-year-old Ellsworth man driving the SUV, which was weaving erratically in the southbound lane before the collision, might have had a medical condition that contributed to the crash.
The man was taken to a hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
The 82-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, and his wife was treated at the scene for injuries that are not life-threatening, according to the release.
The crash remained under investigation Friday.
