Fairbanks, AK : Five people injured in North Pole vehicle crash on Tuesday night, October 4, 2016

Five people were injured Tuesday night when the driver of a Dodge truck crashed into a Chevrolet Suburban at the intersection of Holmes Road and Doyle Drive in North Pole.

According to an Alaska State Trooper news release, the collision occurred when Jerry Wright, 52, of North Pole, tried to pass a Suburban driven by Nicolas Long, 34, also of North Pole, while Long was making a left-hand turn.

Wright was driving erratically before the collision, according to the release. He has not been charged.

The crash was reported at 7:10 p.m. Emergency crews responded and transported Wright, Long, two passengers from Wright's vehicle and one passenger from Long's vehicle to the hospital with what were initially reported as life-threatening injuries, according to the release. They were listed in stable condition Wednesday morning.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged and the road was closed while troopers investigated the crash.
