Murrysville, Pennsylvania
Pittsburgh police charged a woman for allowing her 13-year-old sister to get behind the wheel of a car that crashed into a playground in Highland Park.
Nobody was hurt when the car drove down a one-way street, ran through a stop sign and struck a vehicle before hitting the wood fencing around the Super Playground along Reservoir Drive at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, police told Tribune-Review news exchange partner WPXI-TV.
A father pulled his young child out of a stroller just before it was struck by the car and pinned against the fence, police said.
Mariamo Mada, 19, was charged by Pittsburgh police with two felony counts of recklessly endangering the welfare of a child and two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of another person, according to court records.
Mada is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 11 before Common Pleas Court Judge Jeffrey A. Manning.
