CARMICHAEL, CA : 2 killed, 1 injured in Carmichael crash on Thursday, 13th October 2016

Two people were killed and one person was injured in a crash Thursday evening in Carmichael, the California Highway Patrol said.The 58-year-old woman and 61-year-old man died in the crash, CHP said. The condition of the third person is unknown.

The crash happened around 6 p.m. at when a Honda driving southbound on Garfield Avenue turned left onto Kiva Drive and was broadsided by a Lexus speeding north, the CHP said.

One of the cars ended up in the front yard of a home.

The driver and the passenger of the Honda were killed. The 20-year-old driver of the Lexus was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The northbound lane of Garfield Avenue was closed while CHP investigated the crash. CHP said speeding was a factor in the crash.

No other details were released.

First responders initially reported four people were involved in the crash. CHP later corrected the report.
