Mother, two daughters killed in Friday night crash

A Maple Heights mother and two of her daughters were killed in a crash on Northfield Road in Bedford Friday night.Police say a 48-year-old Warrensville Heights man was headed south on Northfield Road around 9:45 p.m. when he ran a red light at the intersection with Berwyn Street.
His car struck a second car with a 30-year-old mother and her four children inside.The mother, Maria Thorpe, and two of her children, Zariah Roberts, 8, and Zayanah Roberts, 5, died from the crash.Another 12-year-old was treated and released from the hospital, but the 10-year-old is still listed in critical condition.
The driver of the other car was taken to an area hospital and is in police custody after being released.

The crash remains under investigation. Investigators say alcohol may have been a factor. No charges have been filed yet.
