WORCESTER, MA : Bicyclist hurt in crash with car in downtown Worcester on Tuesday, 31st July 2018

A bicyclist apparently suffered serious injury when struck by a car at the Southbridge and Madison streets around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Police blocked off the intersection while an accident reconstruction team examined the scene. A gnarled bicycle lay in the middle of the road. Two sneakers lay yards apart, apparently tossed in opposite directions. A backpack lay on the pavement.

Nearby was a blue Hyundai with its windshield shattered.

The identity of the bicyclist and her condition were not immediately available Tuesday evening. Neither was the identity of the driver.
