WICHITA, KS : 1 killed, 1 critically injured in South Wichita accident on I-135 and K-15 on Sunday, 21st July 2019

One man is dead and another is in critical condition after a late-night motorcycle crash in south Wichita.

The accident happened around 10:40 p.m. Sunday night on I-135 and K-15. Trooper Chad Crittenden with the Kansas Highway Patrol said the two men were on a motorcycle when the driver lost control after hitting a wall.

The passenger, 45-year-old Christopher Monk, was ejected from the motorcycle and died at the scene.

The driver, 29-year-old Travis Byson, and the motorcycle slid for about a quarter-mile. He was hospitalized in critical condition.

Authorities are investigating what led to the crash but do not believe drugs or alcohol played a factor.
