One man is dead and two people are hospitalized after an early Saturday morning crash on Gordon Highway at Doug Barnard Parkway, according to Richmond County Chief Deputy Coroner Kenneth Boose.
At about 1:25 a.m., Joshua E. Ducey, 37, of Augusta, driving a 2007 Ford Escape, was stopped at a traffic light on Doug Barnard Parkway, waiting to turn left onto the westbound lane of Gordon Highway when the driver of a late model Nissan Titan, traveling east on Gordon Highway at a high rate of speed, lost control of the truck, struck the guardrail and t-boned the Ford Escape, overturning it.
Ducey was pronounced dead at the scene, said Boose.
The driver of the Nissan truck and a passenger in the Ford Escape were taken to AU Medical Center and admitted for treatment.
Charges are pending against the truck’s driver.
An autopsy of Ducey’s body is scheduled next week at the GBI Crime Lab.
