Decatur, AL : 2 Madison County men dead after Alabama 20 wreck on Friday, 4th November 2016
Two Madison County men died today after being injured in a two-vehicle accident on Alabama 20 east of U.S. 31, Decatur police said.
The victims were identified as Perry Romine, 38, of Madison, and Darius Collins, 25, of Huntsville.
A release from Decatur police said Romine was driving west in a white 2016 Freightliner M2 when it collided with the rear of a 2007 Mack TR driven by Billy Smith, 35, of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.
Romine was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by a Limestone County official, Decatur police said. Collins was transported by medical helicopter to Huntsville Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Decatur police spokesman Lt. Proncey Robertson said in the release.
Smith was not injured, according to Robertson.
The accident occurred about 12:40 p.m. and blocked traffic traveling into Decatur from Huntsville for an extended time.
Decatur police said the accident remains under investigation.
