Ogden, UT: Man leads chase across 2 counties in stolen vehicle on Friday, July 17th 2015
A Magna man is in custody after leading a chase through Davis and Weber counties Friday night, police said.Eduardo Correa, 20, was arrested and booked into the Davis County Jail on charges of reckless driving, failure to respond to an officer's signal to stop, failure to remain at the scene of an accident and possession of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle Correa was driving had been reported stolen Thursday morning in Utah County.Police received reports of three cars racing northbound on I-15 near Centerville on Friday evening. A UHP trooper attempted to intercept the cars, but only one stopped.A trooper pursued a black Camaro, but Correa made his way through the center median in a construction zone. After being momentarily stopped in the area, Correa backed the Camaro out of the construction zone, striking another UHP vehicle in pursuit, causing moderate damage to both vehicles.Correa fled northbound and exited I-15 onto SR-89 where UHP troopers terminated their pursuit. Kaysville PD pursued the vehicle while it was within city limits, but terminated pursuit when it approached SR-193.The Ogden Police Department eventually found the vehicle at 35th Ave. and Adams Ave. in Ogden. The rim had broken on the front driver's side during the collision with the UHP vehicle, and the damage destroyed the tire.Witnesses in the area said the driver and a female passenger had fled on foot and directed police to where the driver was hiding in the garage. The female passenger is still unidentified. It is possible Correa is linked to several car thefts and burglaries in the area of Lone Peak, officials said.
