Stockton, CA : Family Of Retired Stockton Police Officer Killed In Hit-And-Run crash on Tuesday, December 23, 2014
A retired Stockton police officer has died from injuries sustained after being struck by a van whose driver left the scene.
Stockton police says in a statement Jimmy Pendergrass was hit Tuesday by a van as he walked to the police station, where he worked part-time as a background investigator. He died hours later at a hospital.
Authorities say the 70-year-old retired officer worked for 24 years in the department's traffic section, where he served as a hit-and-run investigator, a motor officer and a motorcycle instructor, and was also a pastor at a Stockton church.
The Stockton Record reports Pendergrass son, Sgt. Brian Pendergrass, is the head of the department's traffic division
