Ozone Park ,NY : 88- Years old Queens woman killed after crashing car into pillar on Monday ,April 20 2015

An 88-year-old Queens woman who plowed her car into a pillar at a major Ozone Park roadway in April has died from her injuries, officials said Saturday.

Carmela Ruotolo was driving north on Cross Bay Blvd. at Liberty Ave. around 7:30 p.m. on April 20 when her 2000 Hyundai rammed into a post underneath the elevated A train tracks, said police.

The octogenarian, who lived in Howard Beach, died four days later at Jamaica Hospital, said police.

Officials said the Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad is still looking into the cause of the crash.

The busy boulevard has seen its fair share of violent collisions in the past, including a three-car wreck in 2013, five miles south in Broad Channel, that left 10 hospitalized, according to reports.
