Jacksonville, FL : Arrest made in wrong-way crash on Interstate 95, the Jacksonville on Tuesday, 24th March, 2020

A 36-year-old Westside man faces a litany of felony charges after a Tuesday-night crash left a Jacksonville police officer seriously injured during a chase the wrong way on Interstate 95, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

Along with fleeing an officer at high speed that causes serious injury and reckless driving, Antoine Dennard Drinks of Biddy Lane was charged with nine other counts including possession of ammunition by a felon, driving with a suspended license and multiple drug possessions, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Drinks has fled officers before. His prison record shows a 2006 conviction for fleeing an officer in Jacksonville.

He also is on parole for a 2017 conviction in Madison County for fleeing and eluding law enforcement while driving the wrong way on Interstate 10, that arrest report said. He was seen throwing cocaine and money out of a rented pickup truck as he sped over 100 mph and tried to ram a pursuing police car numerous times, the 2017 Madison County Sheriff’s Office report said.
