BIG SUR, CA : Two die in fiery Big Sur crash, car plunges over cliff on Tuesday, 18th February, 2020
Two people are dead after the car they were traveling in plunged off a 300-foot cliff in Big Sur early Tuesday morning before bursting into flames.
As of Tuesday afternoon the victims had not yet been identified by the Monterey County Coroner’s office.
The burning car was discovered by crews with Big Sur Fire who responded to a report of a brush fire at 4:40 a.m. between Lucia and Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, according to the California Highway Patrol.
After extinguishing the fire the crew discovered one body in the wreckage. A Monterey County Search and Rescue team responded and discovered a total of two victims in the charred vehicle.
The vehicle was a rented 2018 Chevrolet Camaro. No color could be determined because of the extensive fire damage to the car, the CHP said.
