WAREHAM, MA : East Taunton woman crashes car into Wareham store on Wednesday, June 21, 2017
An East Taunton woman was arrested on her second OUI Wednesday after crashing her car through the front window of the 5 Star Gas & Convenience store on Route 28, Cranberry Highway, narrowly missing the gas pump area and injuring a store patron.
Police said the man injured was treated and released from Tobey Hospital after complaining of sustaining a minor injury.
Police said 52-year-old Laurie Texeira of East Taunton was the car’s driver and sole occupant.
Police said preliminary investigation of the incident indicates the 2005 Nissan Altima sedan driven by Texeira traveled through the parking lot and into the building while traveling south on Route 28 at about 12:30 p.m. There were no brake marks noticed on the roadway or in the parking lot, police said.
She was arrested at the scene for operating under the influence of alcohol and operating to endanger. Police said this is Texeira’s second OUI offense. She stated she recalled traveling on Route 28 (southbound), then entering the building. She was not injured during the incident.
Texeira was transported to the Wareham Police Department and will be arraigned on the criminal charges tomorrow morning at Wareham District Court.
