Orlando, FL : Multi-vehicle crash shuts down Central Fla. Parkway at JYP in Orange County Tuesday afternoon, August 2, 2016
A bus, a semitruck and an SUV collided on Central Florida Parkway and South John Young Parkway in Orange County Tuesday afternoon.
The Florida Highway Patrol obtained video from inside the Mears bus and are investigating.
Investigators said a total of six people were transported from the scene, including the Mears bus driver, who's in critical condition. There were no passengers on the bus.
A total of five vehicles were involved in the crash.
"I was like, 'This is horrible,' because I come and cross this intersection every day to get to school. And I'm, like, 'If I was ... I probably would have been dead by now,'" said witness Maleca Daley.
Daley arrived two minutes after the crash. The front of the bus crashed into the semitruck.
"When you see a bus inside of the trailer like that and car underneath, something happened, really, really bad," said witness Jesse Lott.
"The Mears bus driver was the only person on that bus. He is critical, but stable, over at ORMC at this time but with very serious injuries. He was northbound on John Young Parkway when the cars collided in the intersection and he ended up just east of the intersection," said Sgt. Kim Montes, with the Florida Highway Patrol.
A white van crashed into the bus and a black vehicle went underneath the semitruck.
Vehicles were coming from multiple directions when the crash occurred.
Friends of the victims came to the scene after receiving phone calls stating that they may know one of the drivers.
The driver of the semitruck was not hurt and remained on the scene.
Florida Highway Patrol is at the hospitals evaluating the drivers of the vehicles to see if the incident involved any possible impairment. That's standard procedure.
Officers will also be checking the red-light cameras nearby to see if anyone ran a red light.
