Orlando, FL : 2 hurt in crash that left car dangling from bridge near Orlando Sunday, August 21, 2016
The westbound lanes of State Road 408 near Waterford Lakes Town Center were temporarily shut down after a crash that left a vehicle dangling from a bridge there.
The Florida Highway Patrol said a 27-year-old woman and a 6-year-old child were extricated from the vehicle around 11 a.m. Sunday. Their injuries did not appear to be serious, authorities reported.
Witnesses said the vehicle went into the grass median and hit a guardrail. A lip on the guardrail caught the vehicle, keeping it from going over the ledge onto Kehoe Boulevard below, troopers said.
A trooper happened upon the vehicle while patrolling, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
All westbound lanes of SR-408 were blocked at Kehoe Boulevard, but a wrecker was able to retrieve the vehicle.
The driver was cited for careless driving, the FHP said.
