Eau Claire, WI : Male driver killed in fiery crash in Eau Claire County on Friday, 23rd March 2018

A male driver died Friday morning in a one-vehicle crash in the town of Washington, Eau Claire County Sheriff Ron Cramer said.

The crash occurred at 10:20 a.m. on U.S. 53, just south of Highway V.

The vehicle caught fire shortly after the crash, Cramer said, adding that the Eau Claire County medical examiner’s office was summoned to the scene.

Traffic on U.S. 53 was closed for a short time following the crash.

The driver appeared to be the only person in the vehicle, Cramer said.

The name of the victim will be released after family notification is completed, he said.

Cramer said he didn’t know what factors may have contributed to the crash.
