Juneau,AK : Alleged drunken driver crashes into ditch near Fred Meyer intersection on November, Wednesday 8th 2017
On Wednesday afternoon, a car driven by an alleged drunken driver slid off Egan Drive near Fred Meyer, resulting in a flurry of calls to the Juneau Police Department.
JPD and Capital City Fire/Rescue responded to the crash, which occurred at approximately 3:18 p.m. Wednesday. Responders found a 2010 Ford Taurus in the ditch beside the road, according to a JPD release. They contacted Christopher King, 26, who was driving, as well as a 25-year-old man who was a passenger.
King was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and reckless endangerment, both of which are class A misdemeanors. King later provided a breath sample, revealing that his blood-alcohol level was 0.161, which is twice the legal limit for operating a vehicle. Both occupants declined medical attention on scene from CCFR.
An investigation found that King was driving quickly on Egan outbound toward Fred Meyer. A vehicle coming the other way was turning left across Egan, and King attempted to miss the car. He succeeded in missing the car, but the Taurus went into the ditch. The Taurus sustained an estimated $10,000 in damages from the crash.
