Rhode Island state police are investigating an accident in North Providence that killed a 24-year-old woman.
Police say the accident happened about 1:45 a.m. Saturday on Route 146 near Exit 15 at Mineral Spring Avenue.
They say a BMW appears to have been travelling in the low speed lane when the woman's Nissan rear-ended it at a high rate of speed.
The unidentified woman lost control of the car, striking the center concrete barrier and rolling over. She was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected, police say.
The woman was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence where she later died.
The four occupants of the BMW were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police say they were wearing seatbelts.
