Boulder,CO : Driver who caused fatal east Boulder County crash ran red light on November, Wednesday 1st 2017
The surviving driver in a two-car crash in east Boulder County that killed a 24-year-old man will be charged after investigators say she ran a red light at the intersection and smashed into the other vehicle.
The crash occurred at 5:11 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of U.S. 287 and Arapahoe Road and involved two cars, a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander driven by Justin Kaczmarek and a 2012 Honda Pilot driven by Misty Deiparine, according to Colorado State Patrol Trooper Gary Cutler.
Investigators say that Deiparine, 46, was westbound on Arapahoe Road when she ran a red light and hit Kaczmarek, who was driving south on U.S. 287.
Kaczmarek, 24, died at the scene, while Deiparine was transported with minor injuries.
There were no passengers in either car and no other vehicles involved in the crash.
Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
Cutler said that Deiparine is facing one count of careless driving resulting in death, a Class 1 traffic offense that carries a maximum sentence of one year in jail if she were to be convicted.
Deiparine could not be reached for comment Thursday.
