HUBBARD TOWNSHIP, OH : A three-vehicle crash involving an unidentified commercial vehicle on Thursday, June 8, 2017
A three-vehicle crash involving an unidentified commercial vehicle, a bus and a Harley Davidson motorcycle required the motorcyclist to be treated for non-life threatening injuries at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
The driver of the unidentified vehicle was in the right westbound lane of Interstate 80 with the bus driving behind it around 6 p.m., according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Albert E. Bonetti Jr., 56, of Tallmadge, was riding a 2014 Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle in the left lane.
The driver of the unidentified vehicle changed lanes, striking the motorcycle and forcing it to the left side of the road and into a guardrail. Bonetti lost control of his motorcycle and struck the guardrail a second time, which caused it to overturn and he was thrown off, the patrol said.
The riderless motorcycle then veered into the right lane, where it was hit by the 2015 Motor Coach Industries Charter Bus, which was being driven by Latoya Webb, 40, of Garfield Heights. The driver of the unidentified vehicle momentarily came to rest in the left lane, before continuing west on I-80, according to the patrol report.
Bonetti, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken by ambulance to the hospital. None of the 47 passengers on the bus nor the driver were injured. The crash is still under investigation.
