Orlando, FL : Driver impaled when car crashes in Orlando park on Wednesday, March 4, 2015
Police said a man was impaled by a pole after a car crashed into a fence at an Orlando park Wednesday afternoon.
The crash happened Wednesday afternoon at Willie Mays Park, on Willie Mays Parkway, north of L.B. McLeod Road.
An Orlando police spokesman originally told News 13 the man had died, but later confirmed reports from family members that he was still fighting for his life in the hospital.
Police said the car appeared to drive through the fence, and one of the fence's poles went through the man's chest.
The car's driver was arrested, police said.
The passenger remains in critical but stable condition.
