A man and a pregnant woman were in a car struck by a drunken driver in a wrong-way crash in Pleasant Grove early Wednesday, police said.
The suspect, 27-year-old Eduardo Rodarte-Ortiz, was later transported to Lew Sterrett Jail, Dallas police spokeswoman Diana Flores said. He faces a charge of intoxication assault.
Officers and Dallas Fire-Rescue crews were dispatched about 2:30 a.m. to the 8000 block of Military Parkway, near South Buckner Boulevard.
Rodarte-Ortiz was driving a Mercedes-Benz driving east in the westbound lanes, police said.
He struck a Saturn as it drove over the bridge, Flores said.
A 19-year-old man was pinned inside. Dallas Fire-Rescue extracted him.
He was transported to a hospital with a broken left femur and internal bleeding. He's in critical condition.
The passenger, a pregnant 23-year-old woman, was also taken to a hospital, where she's being evaluated. She's in stable condition.
Rodarte-Ortiz sustained minor injuries, but was medically cleared from the hospital before being taken to jail, Flores said.
