Bemidji, MN : 20-year-old driver seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash in Hubbard County on Monday, June 13, 2016
A 20-year-old driver was seriously injured and four others suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle, broadside crash Monday in Hubbard County.
The crash was reported at 11:22 a.m. on Highway 71 south of Bemidji.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported a Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Bruce G. Nelsen, 81, Staples, was traveling north on Highway 71 and a Saturn driven by Colin J. Crosby, 20, Mahnomen, was going west on Hubbard County Road 9. The Saturn entered Highway 71 and was struck broadside by the Trailblazer, the state patrol reported. Both vehicles came to a rest in the northwest corner of the intersection.
Crosby, who was not wearing a seat belt, was seriously injured and transported to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, the state patrol reported. Crosby's two passengers Candice R. Sampson, 25, Naytahwaush, and Waylon J. Farley, 25, Waubun, who also were not wearing their seat belts, were taken to the Sanford Medical Center in Bemidji.
Nelsen, and his wife, Beverly Nelsen, 73, had non-life-threatening injuries and were also taken to the Bemidji hospital.
The Hubbard Sheriff's Office assisted the state patrol at the scene.
