COVINGTON, GA : 2 kids, adult killed in head-on crash with school bus on Monday, 19th September 2016
Three people, including two children, have been killed in a head-on collision with a school bus in Newton County.
Georgia State Police tell local media that the crash happened 3 p.m. Monday in Covington. Police say a BMW traveling northbound on Highway 162 crossed the center line and struck the bus head-on.
There were five people inside the BMW. Two children and one adult were killed. Their names haven’t been released.
An adult front passenger was injured and airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center. Another child passenger was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. Their conditions were not immediately known.
Newton County Schools spokeswoman Sherri Davis-Viniard says no students were on the bus at the time of the crash, and the driver wasn’t injured.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
