New York City, NY : Pedestrian killed in dump truck crash on Friday February 12 2016

A truck driver has been arrested after he struck and killed a pedestrian in front of the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City.
The New York Police Department says 51-year-old Carlos Torres on a charge of failing to yield to a pedestrian Friday morning.
Police said 48-year-old Elise Marie Lachowyn was crossing 11th Avenue near West 37th Street around 10 a.m. when she was struck by the dump truck that was turning left. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witness Joe Irizarry told the New York Post that Lachowyn was wearing a hood when she stepped out into the street.
It wasn't immediately clear whether Torres had an attorney who could comment on the allegations.
