Police say a man died after his friend tried to save his life following a motorcycle accident near 11th and Garnett early Saturday.

Investigators say the man took a turn onto northbound Garnett around 2 a.m., went up on the sidewalk and hit a sign. He then fell back and hit his head on the pavement.

Police say he was not wearing a helmet.

A friend riding along with the victim did not see the crash, but he circled back and tried to save his friend using CPR.

The man died at the scene.

The victim's name has not been released.

Police say the medical examiner will determine if alcohol was a factor in the accident.
