Sumter County, FL : Fatal two-vehicle crash in Sumter County on SR-471 on May 14th 2014

Police say a Sumter County woman was killed this morning, after a crash on State Road 471 with a freight truck.

According to the police report, The victim, a 54-year-old woman, was traveling northbound on SR-471 approaching SE 20th Lane, and prepared to make a right turn.

The driver of the second vehicle, a freight truck, was also traveling northbound on SR-471 when it entered the southbound lane to overtake the victim making a right turn.

According to the police report, the victim may have aborted the right turn, and attempted a left turn into a driveway off of SR-471, and the vehicles collided as the victims vehicle changed course.

Both vehicles came to rest not far from the crash.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Identification is pending a notification of next of kin.
