Provo, UT : Utah Highway Patrol says seat belts saved six people in two-vehicle collision in Spanish Fork Canyon on Saturday, November, 4th 2017
Utah Highway Patrol responded to a collision involving a four-door sedan and semitrailer westbound on U.S. Highway 6, about one mile west of Soldier Summit in Spanish Fork Canyon at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
According to Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Lawrence Hopper, the sedan had five passengers. The driver of the sedan was driving too fast and lost control of the car. The car rolled up the hill and down again, clipping the end of the semitrailer.
All five people in the car and the semi driver were wearing seat belts. All walked away without injury.
“This could have been much worse,” Hopper said. “It’s a good reminder to everyone to wear seat belts.”
Because of the location and not knowing if there would be severe injuries, a medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene. According to Hopper, the canyon was never fully closed and cleanup was concluded at 5:30 p.m.
